Turn your cramped, cluttered kitchen into an efficient showcase

The kitchen is both the heart of the home and its workhorse. Little wonder that it shows sign of years of use – edges of cabinets begin to fray, countertops sport stains, storage space becomes cluttered and scare, and floors begin to look old.
“The kitchen is the center of the home,” says Victor Elbeze, owner of Prestige Decors, a kitchen and bath remodeling company in North Miami Beach. “This is where the family hangs out.”
When shopping for a home, the kitchen is the room that buyers pay attention to the most. Homeowners want a kitchen that is efficient, stylish, organized, airy and comfortable.
In a tight economy with a struggling housing market, most people can’t move into a new home. But, they can have a new kitchen. And, that is what many homeowners are doing: giving their kitchen a facelift – or even an entirely new design.
Among the more popular changes: increasing storage space, adding backsplashes, replacing Formica cabinets and countertops with hardwood and granite, adding a center island and breakfast bar, letting in more natural light, or knocking out walls and cabinets to give the kitchen a more open look.
For more than a decade, Prestige Decors, at 15455 W. Dixie Highway, Suite F, has been helping South Floridians realize the kitchens of their dreams. This company can handle everything from installing new cabinet handles to a complete kitchen remodeling.
It also can turn an ordinary bathroom into a relaxing retreat. Imagine replacing that standard bathtub with a Roman tub made for soaking, or a walk-in shower complete with seats, steam and body spray.
On average, Elbeze says, the company completes 10 to 15 kitchen remodeling projects a month, a figure that speaks both to Prestige’s reputation for craftsmanship and speed. “We have a reputation for delivering quality products at a great value and on time — that’s very important,”
The process begins with an in-home consultation. “We will talk with the customers about what they want, and give them advice on how to best achieve it. Say, if they are looking to create more space in the kitchen, we will show them how, with accessories like pull-out trays, spice racks and pantries.”
Then, using computer simulations, Prestige’s design specialists will create that look. After a second in-home visit to verify all details, Prestige Decors’ craftsmen will begin the project.
“Our kitchen, bathroom and home cabinetry specialists are available at every stage of a project — from initial consultation through the design phase through the selection of products and the installation,” Elbeze adds.
He says that the maximum wait time between when a customer agrees to the project and when work begins is two weeks. “Most times, if we are in your home on a Monday, we can begin the following Monday. We control our inventory, so we don’t have to wait eight or 10 weeks for materials to come in; we already have it.”
Beginning and finishing a project quickly and on time, with a minimal amount of inconvenience to the customer, is a hallmark of Prestige Decors.
“We know how frustrating remodeling projects can be sometimes,” Elbeze says. “When we start a job, we finish at soon as we can, while satisfying the customer. We also do it as cleanly as possible.”
The emphasis is on quality, both in materials and craftsmanship. For instance, when any material arrives at Prestige Decors, it is double- and triple-checked to ensure there are no problems. Any blemishes, and it’s returned to the manufacturer.
And, every project has a quality control manager whose sole responsibility is to oversee that work.
“That’s all they do – make sure the project is done right,” Elbeze explains. “Our quality control managers visit worksites every single day. I want to make sure everything is done correctly. I want my customers to be happy because they have given me their trust.”
Not to mention the most important room in their home: the kitchen.
